Final Fantasy VIII. Some say it is. Others say otherwise. Yet whoever has gone through this game surely has something to say about it. And most of them are good things, btw.Video games, more specifically role-playing games, have long existed in this puny planet we call earth. Back at the Atari days, when everything we consider crude nowadays still existed, they saw them as the pinnacle of games. And video games, for a fact, are there to entertain the user. Plus, it gives them the chance to kill a bastard in the gut wihout really hurting anyone.
My point is, video games are ranked based on how relative it is to the real thing, which brings me to this point's title:Final Fantasy VIII. Again, I would not be doing this post if I didn't think this game was any good. Let's begin then:
Point 1:Graphics-wise, it is not as superior as what we have nowadays. What you see in this game though is respectable enouh to be taken in as part of the new century. But graphics alone do not dictate a good game.
Point 2:Next is gameplay. It's a turn-based RPG spanning four CD's. In the game, you get six primary characters that you control as the game progresses, with side-characters making appearances at points in the game. In other words, the Final Fantasy series has never disappointed its audience. Simply put, I'd give the gameplay a 9.5 out of 10. Why? That I can not tell you, because it cannot be put into words;it is simply amazing.
Point 3:The story. Yes folks, the story. It is the reason why I've played and finished the game six times already and am planning to finish the seventh this summer. It is the reason why Aki gets so hyped up everytime I mention it(btw, Aki is my friend :-) ). Because as I begin to talk about the topic, all the memories and events come flooding into her mind, and she remembers the beauty that is FFVIII. The story is the reason why most of us never tire of it, and at the same time the reason why you never hear any snide comments about the game. The story is the reason why FFVIII is FFVIII, the best game ever made.
I know you who have not yet been blessed to have passed through such a game will never appreciate what it has to offer. But in the likely event of you being drawn into it, hurry up! Bring out your old PSX or download an emulator! And try to see if everything you've read so far have any truth in them... I know they do.
